R22 - Methane Series Refrigerant HCFC (partly chlorinated) (single component)

R22 is a HCFC and is partly chlorinated and has ozone depleting potential. R22 is compatible with mineral oil. Import quotas apply and it will be phased out (as other chlorinated refrigerants have been) over the next 10 years. This means that availability will become unreliable in future.

R407F

A HFC blend R407F serves as a non-ozone depleting replacement for HCFC-22, R404A and R507 in various commercial refrigeration applications, particularly in low temperature applications. R407F is well suited for new installations as a replacement for R-404A in supermarket application.

R134a - Ethane series refrigerant HFC (chlorine free) (single component)

R134a operates at similar pressures to R12 and is compatible with most materials used in R12 systems however different driers are required and some minor system changes may be necessary. R134a will not operate with conventional mineral oils used with R12 so the industry has elected in most cases to use synthetic polyolester lubricants in R134a systems.

A near azeotropic blend designed to replace R22 however its pressure is approximately 50% higher than R22 and therefore is not safe to use as a drop in replacement. R410A is not compatible with mineral oils and it is recommended to use polyolester oil.

R438A is a unique HFC refrigerant that can be used to replace R22 over a wide range of evaporator temperatures. It is compatible with traditional and new lubricants and in most cases no change of lubricant type during retrofit is required.

R32

R32 is a replacement for R410a. This refrigerant cannot be used as a ‘drop-in’ replacement for R410A in existing systems as equipment needs to be specifically designed to safely run on flammable refrigerant. R32 is not a blend and is flammable and is classed 2.1. Fifty percent (50%) of R32 makes up R410a.R32 is more efficient refrigerant then R410a in air-conditioning having slightly higher pressures then R410a.
